Loss of
power to standby SIU causes loss of data to the ARTCC:
Due to the wire OR connection between
SIU A and B and the design of the SIU's, when the STANDBY SIU is powered off the
ONLINE SIU will not output data. To avoid a service outage the serial
cables going to the STANDBY SIU should be disconnected before the standby SIU is
powered down.

Resetting SRTQC runlength:
The SRTQC runlength is usually set to
64. To reset do the following:
-
Verify the following in Transparent
Mode:
DP35 4 = 0200
**The first 2 bits (02) set the runglength to 64. The last 2 bits (00)
set the time in storage to 0.**
PS4ON **Type DPS10 in Transparent
Mode and look for index 4**
PS86ON **Type DPS4 in
Transparent Mode and look for index 86**
-
Notify the center that they will
lose PSR data for a few scans
-
In the communication cabinet,
remove the PSR/CD2 Input cable
-
Monitor the CMS. The PSR/CD2 line
should go red after a couple scans
-
Reconnect the PSR/CD2 Input cable
-
All alarms should clear on the CMS
-
At your local WRTADS (v5.2 or v5.3)
go to Text Mode and look for the following line

WRTADS v5.1 or earlier may not report the proper runlength.
Call the center to verify that the
runlength is now being reported properly.
This should be checked after a
channel has been reset.
This problem has been resolved
with the installation of the product improvement software.

MBTS test target on the Control receiver:
The OCS program has a default
Sum/Omni ratio of 20dB. Therefore, the Control power will be 20dB below
the Sum power. Change the Sum/Omni ratio to 0dB when calibrating receiver
sensitivity.

Synthetic Target Failure:
It is believed that intermittent
synthetic target failures are due to live traffic flying in the expected
vicinity of the synthetic target. To fix this the synthetic target should
be placed outside of the BI-6 Range Listening Interval (RLI). For most
sites this is 200nm. For Alaskan sites this is 250nm.
The following parameters have been
used at several 200nm sites to eliminate the failures. The site TMC file should
be edited to reflect these values. Sites with a max range of 250nm should
use the system default values.
DP4 56=205
;Max System Range
DP5 7=205
;Range Max
DP5 42=197.9
;Synthetic Target Offset
DP9 4=9B00
;Start/End Range Listening Interval
DP20 11=204.76
;Synthetic Target Range

Tips for loading
software onto the Plot Extractor:
-
Downtime for the site should
be coordinated with Air Traffic prior to loading software onto the Plot
Extractor card.
-
Always use an ESD wrist strap when
handling the Plot Extractor or any other circuit card in the system.

Turning off Mode-S:
A Maintenance Alert was issued on
6/1/2006 instructing BI-6 sites to stop interrogating Mode-S. Instructions
for doing this are included in the alert. Go to TechNet for a copy of the
alert. |
